About Me!

Hi!

I’m Sara! I’m currently an undergrad at Penn State University and having a blast! I’m a friend, sister, and daughter. I’m down-to-earth, love to laugh, and love the beach! I’m just a small town girl living life to the fullest and dreaming big!

I love working out. This was not true a couple years back. I was a cheerleader and dancer all throughout high school so I was active, for the most part. I was never fat, but I was never built like a barbie. During my senior year of high school I joined a gym for the first time. It was alright, but I didn’t enjoy going all of the time. When I came to college I immediately had a struggle with weight and body image. I ate greasy, fattening foods and partied pretty hard. Not realizing the effects that this had on my body, I continued this unhealthy habit. After two semesters, I realized that I had gained a significant amount of weight and that something needed to be done.

Spring semester of my freshman year I put my plan into action. I limited myself to around 800-900 calories per day and I wouldn’t leave the gym until I burned at least 700 calories. On Friday’s and Saturday’s when I knew I was going to be drinking at night, I would save all of my calories just so I wouldn’t feel guilty. I know this is not healthy by any means, but it worked and it seemed like the only thing that worked for me. I lost almost 20 pounds and I started feeling skinny, something I haven’t felt since I was in 6th grade. I kept at this routine throughout the summer and I thought it was the best idea I ever had.

Then came Fall semester of my sophomore year. I eventually gained all of the weight I had lost. From that point until the beginning of spring semester of my junior year, my weight was constantly fluctuating. I’d go to the gym some weeks, and some weeks I wouldn’t. I would binge on chocolate and snacks. I ate irregular meals and I’d eat potato chips for dinner. It didn’t really hit me until I looked at pictures from halloween of my junior year. I knew I really had to change my ways.

Now I actually enjoy going to the gym. Working out relieves stress and clears my mind. I love the way I feel after I work out. I now eat 1400-1600 calories per day, and I burn around 400-500 calories at the gym 6 days a week. I have also lost 11 pounds in 3 1/2 months and I’m doing it the right way. I’ve had more energy and am now in a better place!

March 2011!

One of my main reasons for creating a blog was to stay motivated in my quest to stay healthy. There are so many inspirational blogs out there and I wanted to be a part of that. But my blog is definitely not only about fitness and health. My blog is about life. My blog covers all types of topics and I’m glad I get to share my ideas and journeys with all of you 🙂

When I was thinking of a title for my blog, I picked fun, simple, and sweet because I just liked the words. But after I thought about it, each of those words has a meaning to me. Fun: I love having good times and enjoying life, family, and friends. Simple: I am not extravagent. I live a pretty simple life, and I like it that way. I enjoy the little things in life the most! Sweet: Because I’m sweet 😉 hehe and I LOVE  LOVE LOVE sweets, especially anything with chocolate.
