I Miss You Dearly

Okay so it’s been almost THREE weeks since my last post… I’ve been slacking. I miss this so much!! I feel like I haven’t really had anything interesting to talk about. Summer has been off to a pretty boring start.

I did go to an Arts Festival in Wilkes Barre about 2 weeks ago with my mom and grandmother! I’m not a big art person, but it was a beautiful day and there were a lot of beautiful things to see! (All of the food vendors smelled amazing also!)

I have given up on the Dukan diet. I wasn’t seeing results, and I was so sick of protein. I’m just gonna stick to the balanced diet & exercise strategy πŸ˜‰

One thing I am happy about is my new found love for running. The other day I was on the treadmill at the gym and I got the strong urge to run. I usually walk uphill on the treadmill and rarely ever run. I’m really bad at running. I was a dancer my whole life and I run on my toes. But when I decided to run the other day, I couldn’t stop! I wasn’t getting tired, my legs weren’t hurting, and my breathing was right on track. I ended up alternating running & walking uphill for a total of 3.4 miles. This is pretty big for me! So I’m going to keep up with this and see what happens πŸ™‚

I worked yesterday so I didn’t make it to the gym. These past couple days at work have been extremely stressful so I took a long walk last night to breathe and destress.

As much as living in the mountains is not my favorite thing, I do enjoy a nice, peaceful walk on dirt roads every now and then πŸ™‚

Today the skies are beeee-youuu-teaaa-full!!!

It’s not as hot as it was the past couple days. It’s actually kinda chilly with the wind!!

The rest of my day will consist of going to the gym and picking up my aunt at the airport! She’s coming up for the week from Florida! I’m hoping she takes me back with her when she leaves next week πŸ˜‰

Chopped βœ‚

Sooooooo I decided to be somewhat spontaneous and get my hair cut today! πŸ™‚ I’ve been thinking about it for a while now and I finally followed through! My hair was so dead and damaged, and I just wanted to get rid of it. I also had a coupon! It only cost me $15!!

There it is – the new ‘do! (I didn’t fully style it because I’m not going out anywhere tonight, but you get the idea haha) I feel so much better and I’m very happy I got it cut πŸ™‚ Now hopefully my hair is healthy enough to grow faster so I can have long, beautiful hair in the future!

Calorie Killer kicked butt! It was an hour long and nothing short of amazing. I don’t think I ever sweated that much in my entire life! We kept rotating through cardio and strength training drills. Definitely killed those calories πŸ˜‰

Afterwards it was time for a little treat! Laura and I stopped and got some froyo at Campus Candy!

I meant to take a picture before I started eating, but I forgot πŸ˜› Usually their froyo costs $0.49 an ounce, but today they had a little sale and it only cost us $0.25 an ounce – toppings and all! I got some chocolate and white macadamia nut froyo with chocolate sprinkles and some crumbled oreos. So yummy πŸ™‚

Tonight I’m not doing much of anything. I don’t really have any school work to do other than start getting things together for finals. But since I’m #1 procrastinator, that is not happening hahaΒ I’m just going to listen to music and put together a little shopping list so I’m prepared to go to the grocery store tomorrow!
My mom is coming to visit tomorrow and I can’t wait to see her! I’m not going home for Easter so she’s going to bring a little bit of Easter to me πŸ™‚

Good afternoon! I just got done with classes for the day & I’m feeling pretty good! I read Julie’s Pseudo Ice Cream post and someone commented about making banana soft serve. All you have to do is blend bananas and use a splash of milk! Since I’m addicted to bananas I had to try this out!

It didn’t blend all that well in the Magic Bullet, but it still tasted fantastic! I will be making this more often πŸ™‚

It was pretty nice out this morning when I left for class around 7:30 am. The sun was out and the sky was blue.

You don’t see much activity that early in the morning. Campus is pretty much a dead zone haha

I usually go to the gym right after class and get my cardio in, but I was not feeling that today. Instead, later on I’m going to a fitness class called Calorie Killer with Laura. I went to calorie killer once during my freshman year and it was a killer all right! So bad that I haven’t gone to that class since! But I want a challenge and can’t wait to sweat my booty off!

I may take a nap? I’m really bad at napping though so I probably won’t. For now I’ll just watch All My Children & One Life To Live! (Soap operas are a guilty pleasure of mine :P) (AND they’re canceling both of them… what is this world coming to!!?)

Okay so this is going to be a quick post, but I just felt the need to blog because I love it so much!

HALLELUJAH!!!! The sun has finally made an appearance!!! This morning I had another early morning workout! 6:30 am elliptical & treadmill. While working out, I saw the sun shining on the HUB and I got that much happier! We haven’t seen the sun in State College for weeks now and this was such a great start to my day!

Soooo today has been great so far, but I am extremely nervous for 2 pm to roll around. I have an interview for an internal audit internship! I’m super excited, but I always get jittery before interviews. I’ve been biting my nails (and I NEED to stop!) and just can’t sit still! I just need to breathe and it will all be okay! I’m really happy that I got an opportunity to interview so let’s hope for the best πŸ™‚

Last night’s dinner was simple, yet delicious!

Just some whole wheat pasta, frozen veggies, mushroom & green pepper spaghetti sauce, and parmesan cheese!

I made a panini for lunch (kinda early so I will be hungry again soon), but it came out so pathetic haha

I used packaged cheddar cheese singles instead of feta cheese and it flat out sucked! BOOO! Looks like I’ll have to go buy some feta!

Kick Butt Kickboxing

While I was walking to class this morning, I realized that I forgot my sneakers. :/ This did not make me a happy camper. I usually go straight to the gym after class, so I carry my workout gear with me. Since I was sneaker-less, I had to change my workout plans for the day.

I looked at the fitness class schedule and chose kickboxing. I love kickboxing classes and haven’t been to one in a while so I figured it would be the perfect day to attend a class. It wasn’t the hardest kickboxing class I’ve ever taken, but I still got my sweat on πŸ™‚

When I got home, I was STARVING. I made a smoothie for lunch. It’s probably the easiest and simplest smoothie recipe ever!

That’s right – you only need a banana, milk, icecubes, & vanilla! Put it in the blender and BAM – a refreshing smoothie!

My roomie, Laura (aka The Carbivore), brought a magic bullet for our apartment after many failed attempts with a real blender. (We have bad luck with all types of electronics.) But this little baby is awesome! It blends everything really well and pretty fast. It’s always extremely easy to clean!

I was still hungry after I downed the smoothie so I grabbed some chickpeas and put them in some spaghetti sauce πŸ™‚

I’ve been on a chickpea kick lately and I’m trying to find some simple, easy ways to make them!

Watery Wednesday

Ah, today has been a pretty decent day! I woke up this morning around 6:15 am and the sun was rising and shining bright! But unfortunately this was not the case as the day went along 😦 As soon as I was done with my classes around 12:30 pm, it was rainy, cold, and dreary.

But the weather has not put a damper on my day! I went to the gym directly after class and had a pretty good workout! I did a total of 40 minutes of cardio on the precor 100i elliptical machine. (I definitely recommend trying one out!) My workout was as follows:

1-5 minutes at resistance 10

5-20 minutes at resistance 14

20-30 minutes at resistance 12

30-35 minutes at resistance 10

35-40 minutes at resistance 8

Overall I burned a total of 484 calories and traveled 4.29 miles!

After my workout I went home and ate some yummy lunch! I had some left overs from last night’s dinner.

I made this hamburger helper-esque meal using just 4 ingredients: ground venison, whole wheat spiral pasta, cheesy taco seasoning, and some italian garden spaghetti sauce. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out but it was certainly yummy!

My roommate, Laura, and I thought it would be a good idea to take a trip to WallyWorld tonight! (This is our nickname for WalMart.. we love that place a little too much haha) I was running low on food so I just needed to pick up a few things for the next week or so.

I spent $14.21 and got all of this! (I’m a bargain shopper hehe) I can’t wait to make some panini’s with my feta cheese and turkey! And I already dug into the tortilla chips and salsa which turned out to be my dinner =P Healthy… haha

I’m still trying to fix my blog and make it “me”. I’ve been trying different themes and layouts so my blog has been kinda messy. But I promise it will be right where I want it sometime soon!

Funny thing happened today. I texted my roommate, Laura, telling her how I started a blog in January and then never followed through with it until a couple days ago. She replied that she did the EXACT same thing! (I swear we are twins) So check her blog out: TheCarbivore! She has a really cool post coming up about our spring break vacation!

Time for some tv, facebooking, and eventually bed! Nighty night! πŸ™‚
